The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 不可避免的衰老或许是这个世界上最恐怖的事情，尤其是对于曾经风华正茂的俊男靓女们，当年老体弱、活着的日子屈指可数的他们碰到一群来自己家里放纵情欲，在卧室在牛棚在客厅盘肠大战的奔放嬉皮士，年轻的躯体、肉欲的沉沦在他们看来则是无比的嫉妒、怀念和求不得，此时，老人们对年轻人举起屠刀，在电影里也成为了理所当然、水到渠成的血腥发泄。电影《X》中虽然前奏冗长，然而杀戮镜头果断直接不拖泥带水，把“衰老”这个我们都将会经历的阶段嵌入到影片中，成为了全片的核心惊吓点：我们终将老去，到那时，青春就成了一种恶毒的诅咒。
⒉本片其实可以分为三个部分，第一部分就是拍摄“爱情电影”，同时也为诡异恐怖气氛进行铺垫，不过总体还是轻松，很赏心悦目，高潮部分则是虐杀，虽然很幽暗，可各种手段让人大开眼界，但最恐怖的是老头老妪那一段，效果俱佳；
其实立意挺新，没有玩老梗，那帮完恐怖片的都在追求故事核的跃升，这是好现象，不然，月光光，猛鬼街，以及电锯们都快玩虚脱了。终于来了个原罪探讨+皱皮朽木的躯体对鲜嫩光润身体的嫉妒和对性爱的渴望引起的血腥杀戮。血腥指数，可以给1分，故事立意、给1分。结尾的闭环-最该受惩罚的恰恰是施与判决书的。l

水中垂直视角拍鳄鱼那段可以列入年度镜头 其他也就还行 A24特别努力的用视听剪辑各种技术告诉观众他们拍得恐怖片和其他粗制滥造多么多么不一样 但其实也没太多不同啦 的确是高级那么一丢丢 看完真得有些害怕变老 面容衰败皮肤松弛“无人问津” 稍属于稍一想都非常可怕的程度 米娅这个选角挺好的 本身就有种很诡异的美
中途摄像师在浴缸里的俯拍镜头，还致敬了一把《未麻的部屋》，而收音师女朋友劈门的画面，也很《闪灵》。总之惊悚片是不会再看了，看的心累。
欧美演艺圈是真的顶，吹拉弹唱，身材颜值各项顶格，还要演技，就这条件还要经过筛选才能上。女主角的要求更变态。
前一个小时铺垫拍的好，反而是后40分钟的精华整的真拉胯

又是德州又是保守宗教又是拍a片和我看的上部电影《红色火箭》竟然莫名连上了，这部德州老妪变态杀人事件其杀人动机尽然是嫉妒青年男女能够自由打炮做爱，而自己不能于是痛下杀手，但问题是，老年人性欲是个自然衰退过程，性欲残留且异常强烈的不是没有但也属于少数，大部分到了岁数荷尔蒙自然就消停了，另外我想讨论一点就是如果女性以能够取悦男人或者说以展示性魅力或者说以是否还有性吸引力作为个人价值判断那么一定是不符合目前女性意识觉醒等等主流价值观的，，空虚寂寞冷只是说明一定程度上自我价值的缺失，如果有充分的兴趣和充实的生活目标，也可以过好晚年无性生活的，至少不至于扭曲至疯狂。完全成了《惊魂记》里的主角。
一星是风景好看和画质有种胶片的感觉

复古黄暴老年恐怖cult片，一锅大杂烩，片中最恐怖的是老年妇女的背后窥探和变态的需求。这也算此类片中的一个创新点，但看得颇为不适。除此之外片中再没有特别的地方。
比较失望，整体挺平庸的。本来觉得这个题材很有意思很期待，没想到被拍的特别无趣……前半节奏巨慢，好不容易开始刺激了中间暂停了一下发现居然都快结束了…………可以说导演本人就很像剧中那个想拍艺术电影，但迫于现实，从拍黄片起步的大学生。乍一看有两下，实际上还是眼高手低。结果也一样，说是黄片吧也不够黄，说是恐怖片吧也没那么恐怖。最主要是整体氛围特别割裂，明明视觉上卯足了劲要复古，两段突然插入的歌曲部分却异常的现代mv(无论是剪辑调度还是歌曲本身）然后故事主旨上呢又很想搞个大新闻，实际上很浮于表面，还不停疯狂暗示，生怕观众不懂。总之很一般，烂番茄评价这么高不禁让我真的开始怀疑现在美国人是搞zzzq魔怔了…………
A24出品基本质量是可以保证的，披着色情片外衣的恐怖片，犹如当年披着恐怖片在院线上映的色情片，相同的一点都是X分级。前半部分摄影构图漂亮，后半部分撒血浆略显随意。
冲着恐怖的话 和温子仁差了若干个《遗传厄运》
德州电锯的画面质感，everyone loves sex，老太“想要”，各种彩蛋元素get，沙马兰说我拍old之前咋没想到这个主题
当摄影师被老太杀死，高潮就此到来。 恐怖剧情从头就营造的比较完美
就很难定义 说是恶俗的血浆片吧 还是有点可以思考的东西在的 但要真去思考 又只是非常蜻蜓点水的带过 老年人的爱欲确实是个被忽视的话题 感觉绝大部分对老年人生活的描绘都限于互相搀扶着蹒跚行走 哪怕有一两部老年人恋爱 两个人也是温馨多过欲望 而且演员也不会老的那么真实 不像这部片子里一样 佝偻的身体 干瘪的皮肤 遍布全身的老年斑 但遗憾的是这个片子也就到此为止了 她的求欢 对年轻女孩肉体的迷恋 猎奇的感觉更多一点 不过我喜欢这种干脆的杀人 说杀就杀 完全不逼逼 反派一个死于心脏病 一个死于低估了枪的后坐力 完全摆脱了反派死于话多的cliche
